The Corsair is the most distinctive aircraft design of all time. There is no mistaking the outline. Even those who know nothing of aircraft instantly recognize the Corsair as a special aircraft. If a Corsair doesn't draw a crowd when it lands, the airport is closed.

For those of us who love the Corsair, flying one would be the ultimate thrill. And owning one a nearly impossible fantasy. But the options are few. It's a rare day when one of the few surviving originals is for sale. And fewer still are those that can afford it's price. And while there are a few homebuilt designs that resemble the Corsair, they leave a lot to be desired.

Enter the Corsair82, a new composite design being developed by Tony Pileggi. This design is totally true to the original F4U-1A design using the original plans and drawings.

Many people have been asking, "What about a kit?" It is way too soon to answer that question. The first thing is to get the prototype into the air. Then it will be time to decide if and how kits will be produced. Of course the idea of having other Corsairs flying is appealing. But there are a lot of issues that have to be worked out first.
